Everything on this site is written by us. These are the rules we hold ourselves to, written down so they can be held against us.
Figures come from the machine
Capacities, outputs, dimensions and finishes on a card are the figures for that machine, not a round number chosen because it reads better. Where a machine is sold by two figures at once, such as an air conditioner with a BTU rating and a floor area, both are printed.
Prices come from one update, and the date is published
We update prices on a schedule and state the date of the last update on the how we update page. It is stated in one place on purpose: a date repeated under every price becomes wallpaper and stops being read.
Sources are read before they are cited
Every safety or health claim here links to a national body, and every one of those pages was opened and read before the sentence next to it was written. The date we read it is printed beside the link. We write the sentence to fit the source, never the other way round.
Ratings are pooled, and we say so
A machine sold in four finishes shares one pool of buyer ratings across all four. We count each pool once. The total is therefore smaller than adding up the number under every card would suggest.
What we will not write
- A claim about health, safety or savings that we cannot trace to a source and quote.
- A specification we have not got, filled in with something plausible.
- A comparison with a named competitor's machine that we have not put beside ours.
- Praise for an expensive machine over a cheap one where the cheap one is the right answer.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, write to hello@theelectactic.com. A wrong figure gets fixed on the page. A claim we cannot stand behind gets removed rather than softened. Anything about an order, a delivery or a refund belongs with the retail partner who took the payment.
